NATURE OF THE JOB

A. Job Summary & Dimensions Describe the overall objective of this position and provide relevant facts and figures indicating the scale of this position’s responsibilities (i.e. budgetary responsibility, sales revenue, P&L)

Manage Manufacturing within the Pune Facility. As Manufacturing Manager you are responsible for the overall performance and development of all the various manufacturing department processes and activities . Duties including but are not limited to: management of approximately 50-80 people (direct and indirect), capacity management, quality/delivery, cost management, continuous improvement activities, and process development and maintenance. Project management of key operational development initiatives within the Pune facility.

  1. Design the manufacturing method and production line for new products. Coordinate the developing of tooling, assembly equipment, assembly fixtures to assure efficient operation and sufficient capacity for new products. Uses the future state value stream maps as long term driver for change, and Facility Scorecard as short term driver for change. Metrics include: pieces produced per hour, labour cost per Rs shipped, ontime delivery to request date.
  2. Analyzes the capacity within the production areas and implements actions to maximise as required. Directs the application of Continuous Improvement activities to deliver high quality products at the lowest cost with the shortest leadtimes. Measures include OEE, PPM hard and soft errors, MRR’s and tool changeover times.
  3. Creates a culture of Continuous Improvement with the Production. Coordinates Continuous Improvement activities and employee development and training working with HRD. Cross training of employees for maximum flexibility. Monitors performance with visual management systems (skills matrix etc.) to ensure compliance and identify opportunities and needs for improvement.
  4. Responsible for the management and leadership of personnel within the Production and Toolroom areas. Ensures that applicable company policies and work instructions are fairly, consistently and uniformly followed. Responsible for providing an environment which promotes employee involvement and empowerment and which in turn contributes to positive morale. Metrics include: timely completion of PDR’s and setting of development goals, compliance to Health and Safety requirements, company policies including attendance and work instructions.
  5. Review and analyze the production data such as reject rate, down time, cycle time, etc. Propose the opportunities for the continuous improvement in terms of safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  6. Make sure the tooling, equipements, fixtures, etc are in good condition and play a key role in the team on resolving the safety and/or quality issues on the production line.
  7. Coordinate assigned new manufacturing projects for the cost estimate, initial production, business system setup, and process control documentation (FMEA, Control Plan, etc). Assure meeting the project objectives.
  8. Develop the Sequence Of Events and Operational Method Sheet as the manufacturing work instruction for the specific product. Insure accuracy of specified manufacturing standards, standard times and rates to reflect the potential of the materials and the process.
